
CBA of Northern California and Nevada (NextGen Churches) again assembled at Asilomar for its annual conference. The keynote speaker was Dr. Reggie McNeal, the Missional Leadership Specialist for Leadership Network in Dallas. His books include Revolution in Leadership, A Work of Heart, The Present Future, Practicing Greatness and Get A Life! Reggie Coates of "Heartfelt Music" led in the times of musical worship.
Thursday morning's breakfast time featured reports from partner organizations like CBAmerica, SCORE International, World Venture, Missions Door, Eagle's Wings, Genesee Home, Church Sports, Uncharted Waters, Corban College, Shasta Bible College, Western Seminary and Jews for Jesus.
Dr. Mark Platt was honored for 26 years of service as Associate and Church Planting Director. A number of pastors from the 80 plants he has instigated gave testimony to his effectiveness and relational skills. Director Paul Null reported on his continuing commitment to a missional and relational emphasis among the churches, expressed in the motto: Healthy Churches Giving Birth to Healthy Churches. Three new churches are being planted, one of them a Filipino congregation, and another worshipping in a traditional Jewish form. Recent plants in Lake Oroville, Vacaville, Chico, Newark, Stockton and Reno are experiencing encouraging growth.
Stephen Johnson is celebrating thirty years as Director of Silver Spur Camp, even as he contemplates passing the baton to staff member Eric Noble.
